LRR Community Profile by Proudfoot [Updated 08/20/08]
Hey all.
Today we present a new forum feature by LRR forum member and "True Story" vlogger, Proudfoot.
We think LRR has a great online community, and we're a very lucky website in that regard. Although, you guys know tons about us from the videos and podcasts, but what about everyone else on the forums?
So let's learn a little more about one another, shall we?
We present:
The LRR Community Profile
Proudfoot will be conducting short interviews with forum members and posting them in this thread. He came to me with the idea, and we think it's pretty cool. Tell us what you think.
Right-Click Here for Episode 01 - Allen!
Right-Click Here for Episode 02 - Tensen
Right-Click Here for Episode 03 - Misty (formerly MistyLadyBug)
Right-Click Here for Episode 04 - TheRocketSiobhan
If you think you'd be the perfect interviewee in the next segment of the LoadingReadyRun Community Profile, prove it!
Tim's opening the LRR CP up for applications. If you think the LRR community wants to know more about you, send Tim a private message with "LRR CP Application" in the subject line, and answer the following questions in the body of the message:
--------------------------------
1. Why do you think you'd be a good guest on the LRR CP?
2a. Are there any particular topics you would like to discuss with Tim during the recording of the segment? What are they?
2b. Do you have any hobbies or interests that could be discussed during the interview?
3. How long have you been watching LRR videos? How long have you been involved in the LRR community?
4. Do you have Skype and a headset? (Microphones without headsets are ok, but headsets are better.)
5. Have you watched all of the Loading Time videos? Because you should. You don't have to answer this question; just do what it says.
6. (OPTIONAL) What is your name? What is your age? What is your quest? What is the rotational velocity of a one-pound brown-and-white hamster that slips while running at four kilometres-per-hour in its exercise wheel?

It's over Vent, and I need to improve my microphone situation a little bit. I haven't actually used Skype before, but I plan to experiment with it and see if it would be better for this than Vent is.
Thanks for posting this up, Graham, and I hope everone enjoys it.

It's just an MP3... Shouldn't be encoded in any special way. Hopefully it'll work for you.
BTW, be on your best behaviour everyone. It may not be long before I send out a PM for Interviewee #2...

Though this would require some work...it might work well.
Start Audacity independently on your machines. Have it only take in the input for the local mic. Record independently, then send the (insert file-type here...mp3 perhaps?) to one person. Combine. Figure out the delay and adjust accordingly. Hope it works. Publish!
Oh, also, Xfire has an amazing voice chat program...though if either you or your interview-ee is on anything other than Windows, it won't work...yeaaah.
